Residence Inn by Marriott Portland Downtown/Waterfront

This review is long overdue from our stay this summer. We had a wonderful time at this hotel. The location and room size were great for our family. After being told we'd have to wait a bit for our room due to cleaning, we said no problem and waited in the lobby bar. The front desk associate Tim not only kept is updated but went above and beyond putting these treats in our room later on. My 1 year old absolutely loved the snacks and the book. It's touches like these that make sure we will return here when staying in Portland. Also, a bonus to the great location (and Tim the wonderful) is the fantastic breakfast spread. Final note, a know before you go - parking is at a lot a block down and run by a separate company. There were some very aggressive people shouting at the front desk over this. I also unfortunately witnessed other guests shouting and belittling front desk associates over lack of upgrades and an inability to get a roll away bed. Please be kind to the front desk people. They're people doing their best.

If you can find another location to stay, do yourself a favor. Marriott hotels are usually kept to a high standard but that is not the case here. The furniture is beat, stained and the most uncomfortable I have ever seen. The carpets need rep[acing and the front desk does not respond to requests even when the say that will take care if it right away. It is a decent location and a rather new hotel but it is already tired and not really worth the price.
